About Us In 2003, the Queen's School celebrated the day, one hundred and twenty five years ago, when it first opened its doors to the young women of Chester and surrounding areas, as The Chester School for Girls. Founded in 1878, the School would change its name within four years, when Queen Victoria issued a royal decree commanding that the School should "henceforth be known as The Queen's School". It is a source of great pride that The Queen's School remains the only school in this country granted the privilege of bearing this name.
